Replit CEO: AI reverse engineering will make all software de facto open-source
aakashgupta · x · 2026-10-18
Aakash's latest AI newsletter opens with Replit CEO Amjad Masad's claim that AI-powered reverse engineering and decompilation is advancing so fast that "pretty soon all software will be de facto open-source" — people are already reverse-engineering Adobe products and decompiling GTA V to port it to other devices.
The core question: what moats are left in software? AI agents can now read most of what you ship; the newsletter breaks down what no longer counts as a moat and what to build instead.
The weekly news section also covers Meta's first frontier model, Muse Wonder (paired with a new Muse agent), marking Meta's return to the frontier race.
(Contains an Amplitude Custom Agents sponsor segment: custom agents for funnel monitoring that auto-create Linear tickets, in free open beta.)
