kimo: An Open-Source GUI-less Video Editor That AI Agents Drive via MCP
LieTop7965 · reddit · 2026-10-18
A college student released kimo, an MIT-licensed GUI-less video editor driven by AI coding agents (Codex, Cursor, OpenCode) over MCP — cutting, trimming, keyframes, captions, color grading, and export are all tool calls. A render-frame-back feature lets agents check their own work mid-edit. It's a 15MB CPU-only Rust binary that runs on a 2GB box, so agents can edit video on a cheap VPS. Author admits rough edges and asks for testing feedback.
