3 Claude Code habits worth stealing: curated subagents, notification hooks, and a build-review split

A Reddit user tested setups collected from blogs, X and GitHub and found three Claude Code habits that stuck:
- Install 2-3 subagents. VoltAgent's awesome-claude-code-subagents repo has 160+ definitions. The working approach: ask Claude which 3 fit your repo, read each definition file before installing (they're prompts that can request tools), and trim tool access.
- Desktop notification when Claude waits on you. Prashanth Vaidya had Claude Code set up its own Notification hook — essentially "set up a Notification hook in my user settings showing 'Claude needs input: [project folder]', show me the JSON before writing" — ending constant tab-switching to VSCode.
- One builds, another reviews. Santiago uses Claude Code to build and Codex as a read-only reviewer hunting bugs and pushing back on architecture, with a fleet rule: the model that wrote work never reviews it.
The author also compiled 51 such setups for free at Agent Cookbooks, each linked to its original with copy-paste prompts.
