ICANN has published its 2026 application list: 13 applicants are seeking the .agent top-level domain, including Google, OpenAI, Meta, and Open Agent Registry (a community application by Agent Community). Brave is also pushing a related petition.
- The community applicant argues .agent should answer 'when an agent acts on your behalf, can someone check who stands behind it,' with proposed community governance and accountability commitments
- The TLD is not yet approved; if delegated, it could become identity infrastructure for AI agents
