Speed up your repos: APFS volume with no fseventsd or Spotlight, via your agent
GabGarrett · x · 2026-10-18
fforres shared a neat trick: have your coding agent create an elastic APFS volume at /repos, disable fseventsd and Spotlight indexing on it (nolog mount), persist it via /etc/fstab, and move your projects (plus pnpm cache) onto it. elithrar validated the approach and open-sourced a 250-line bash script (repos-volume.sh) that automates it. Caveats: start the agent conversation outside the projects folder and expect to kill a bunch of processes.
