After chat: ambient agents with on-demand UIs purpose-built per task
flowersslop · x · 2026-10-17
Responding to "what's the final interface after chat?", the author argues it's ambient agents plus on-demand UIs: an app purpose-built for whatever you're doing, generated on the fly.
The attached imagegen concept renders compare plain chat versus generated UIs for the same tasks:
- Blood test results: chat dumps a raw metrics list; the generated UI shows "14 of 15 markers normal, overall good" as a dashboard with the low vitamin D flagged and a doctor-consult suggestion.
- Offer negotiation: chat gives a long guide; the UI visualizes "your €102K is 15% below market €120K" with one-tap actions to draft a counter (+€6k base) or request an extra vacation day.
- Trip planning: chat lists step-by-step logistics; the UI renders a Munich→Prague day card with tickets, luggage storage, check-in time and sights.
Takeaway: generated UIs are far more intuitive, beautiful and useful than chat, and it's already starting to happen—though these renders are just rough ideas.
