Open-source Open Machine MCP lets ChatGPT build and play its own game on your machine
LuozhuZhang · reddit · 2026-10-17
A developer released Open Machine, an MIT-licensed MCP runtime that lets ChatGPT and compatible agents work directly on your local or SSH-remote machines: read/edit project files, run terminal commands and tests, debug failures, handle GitHub Issues/PRs/reviews, and persist task progress for resumable work. In the demo, one prompt had ChatGPT build the survival game NEON SWARM: it ran 56 tests, fixed bugs, launched it, and played it in a browser — surviving the 60-second challenge with 4 HP left. Local-first with permission controls; browser tasks use a local Codex setup.
