Perplexity open-sources SPACE: a Firecracker microVM sandbox for AI agents
AravSrinivas · x · 2026-10-18
Perplexity announced it is open-sourcing SPACE, the agent sandbox platform behind Perplexity Computer, under Apache 2.0 — a move amplified by NVIDIA AI.
SPACE runs each agent task in its own Firecracker microVM and controls credentials and outbound traffic from outside the VM, providing stronger isolation than model-level safeguards alone.
Developers building autonomous agents can now reuse this sandboxing approach to control where agents execute code and what they can access.
