39% of breast cancer diagnoses at this clinic are under 40 — AI-assisted 3D ultrasound fills the screening gap

Blogger Harper Carroll shares a breast cancer screening PSA: insurance typically covers screening only after 40, yet 39% of patients diagnosed with breast cancer at Eve Wellness in the Bay Area were under 40 — and the USPSTF only lowered its recommended routine mammogram starting age from 50 to 40 two years ago.
The clinic pairs doctors with AI: GE HealthCare's Invenia ABUS automated 3D ultrasound plus QView's QVCAD AI to flag areas for physician review. The scan uses sound waves with no ionizing radiation; results typically arrive in 24–48 hours (hers in 5). ABUS images are standardized and reproducible, giving clinicians a baseline for future comparison.
She also notes that only as of September 10, 2024 must US mammography facilities notify women about breast density — and the notice says little beyond that density can hide cancers. One patient, Anisha, had stage-1 cancer found at 37 via this ultrasound and credits it with fast-tracking her care.
