FrankenSim's design philosophy: instruments are data, physics is reusable generic modules
doodlestein · x · 2026-10-17
The FrankenSim author explains the organizing idea behind his simulated instruments: an instrument is just data, and the physics is a small set of generic, abstract, reusable modules. Every capability doubles for structural acoustics, aero-acoustics, biomechanics, tribology, HVAC, automotive NVH and machine dynamics; each instrument is merely a description composing those modules; no instrument-shaped code exists anywhere except test fixtures. Instruments are a happy byproduct of the larger goal — simulating physics across domains.
