Dev adds Google Merchant Center to his MCP server — and explains how it beats Google's official one

The indie dev behind GSC Wizard added Google Merchant Center to his SEO MCP server — 10 shopping tools demoed end-to-end with 8 prompts on a sample shop.

Coverage: free-listing performance across Shopping/Search/Images/Lens/YouTube/Maps, products Google won't show ranked by click potential, competitor visibility per country/category, price benchmarks with suggested prices, best sellers you don't stock, a 21-check feed audit, and Search Console's merchant listings report.

Vs. Google's official MCP (Merchant API MCP Access Service, since May 2026): Google's has 13 tools, writes, and raw MQL via reportsearch — better for developers, but it's an experimental alpha with fussy setup (Cloud project, OAuth token, headers). His is a hosted connector with normal sign-in in Claude/ChatGPT, and it hands the model pre-digested answers instead of raw rows.

Hard-won lessons for MCP builders

Endpoint: mcp.gscwizard.com/mcp, OAuth 2.1; paid product with a 7-day trial.
