Founder wipes 30k lines of tech debt in one shot with Opus
lucasmeijer · x · 2026-10-16
Indie developer Lucas Meijer shares a first-hand case: he deliberately let tech debt pile up in one of his SaaS products on the bet that "a newer model can clean this all up" — and it worked. Opus ("Opus55") cleared it all in one go, deleting 30,000 lines of code, including some features he chose to drop anyway. A real-world validation of the "defer refactoring to a smarter model" strategy.
