OpenAI stealth-testing mysterious internal model 'Aeon' in Codex desktop app and Dots
cedric_chee · x · 2026-10-16
Users spotted OpenAI stealth-testing an unreleased internal model called Aeon in the Codex desktop app and Dots since last week; a usage-history screenshot shows "Aeon child" already at 7.1% of usage (Subagents 37.4%, Tasks 54.7%). Andrew Curran adds that Aeon is an unnamed internal OpenAI model that didn't exist before the end of August and is still training, reportedly solving most recent math results (including Navier–Stokes) in one shot from a single prompt — 3 hours of thinking per problem, fed 4000 problems, with returns not dropping on a log scale. Other rumored items: Bel announced but unreleased, Ultrafast at 700 token/s, a long-running-task-focused ChatGPT subscription, and possible OpenAI entry into Lovable/Vercel territory (speculation). Unconfirmed.
