7 AI engines, 150 buying questions: blogs cited in 93% of answers, Reddit just 10%
drrickio · x · 2026-10-16
A study asked 7 AI engines 150 buying questions and logged every cited source across 1,200 answers. Blogs and best-of lists appeared in 93% of answers with sources, while Reddit was cited in only 10% — and 89% of those Reddit citations came from Gemini and Google AI Overview. ChatGPT, Claude, and Meta Muse Spark produced zero Reddit citations. The takeaway: AI visibility is engine-specific, so content strategy for AI search must be tailored per engine rather than treating them as one channel.
