ModelClock launches free read-only MCP server to track model deprecations
zomenaro · reddit · 2026-10-16
A developer released a free read-only remote MCP server for ModelClock, which aggregates official model lifecycle notices so coding agents can check model IDs against published retirement deadlines.
Three tools:
- lookupmodel: status, dates, replacement and official source per model ID, split by provider/hosting route
- checkcode: match IDs in code, config or lists against recorded notices
- upcomingshutdowns: exact published deadlines in a chosen time window
Setup: claude mcp add --transport http modelclock https://model-clock.com/api/mcp — Streamable HTTP, no sign-in or API key, read-only. Author seeks feedback on whether results clearly surface affected versions and hosting routes.
