Pattern MCP makes coding agents check existing components before writing new code
DonR954 · reddit · 2026-10-16
A developer released Pattern, an MCP tool that turns UI design specs from your components folder or Figma into a requirements checklist, then evaluates candidate components against actual code, props, and docs before the agent writes anything.
- Produces a build plan: reuse an existing component or build custom, with visible reasoning and requirement coverage.
- Caches decisions per project — repeat lookups drop from 43s to milliseconds.
- Open source at github.com/donaldrichard19-LVD/pattern-mcp; feedback requested.
