Claude Code update dumps most projects into one 'Default' pile, breaking sidebar grouping
LewkSkywatcher · ghdev · 2026-10-15
A user filed anthropics/claude-code issue #102171: after updating to 2.37337.1, about 12 of their 20 project groups vanished from the Code tab sidebar, with all sessions dumped into a single 'Default' group.
- Sessions are not lost — switching to date grouping shows everything, and each session still displays its original project name, so the app knows the mapping but no longer groups by project
- The author suspects the update replaced 'group by project' with 'group by environment'; the Group by menu now offers None/Status/Date/Environment, and the update auto-created 8 environments, sparing only projects that happened to get one
