3,700 commits, half written by Claude Code: dev shares workflow for large AI-built projects

A developer with 10 years of experience built Film Dilemma, a free movie-picker site, over 2 years: 3,700 commits, nearly 1,900 co-written with Claude Code (FastAPI + MySQL + React + Capacitor).
Key workflow lessons:
- Hard rules in CLAUDE.md (e.g., never touch the database without asking) — at this scale the file is what keeps the agent from doing dumb things
- Per-session HTML status pages created and updated via hooks: each Claude Code session tracks what it's doing, questions awaiting your answer with recommendations, and items to test — so he reads one page instead of scrolling chats while running multiple sessions in parallel
- The promo video was also made entirely by Claude Code (Opus 5.5) with Playwright recording and ffmpeg editing; Grok-generated video clips looked like AI slop, so motion graphics won
