Samsung cuts Q4 phone output as Nittobo shifts E-glass to AI-chip T-glass
zephyr_z9 · x · 2026-10-16
Per ZDNet Korea, Samsung has trimmed Q4 smartphone component orders by 20-30% versus prior guidance, citing shortages and price hikes in Nittobo's E-glass fiber—the supplier now prioritizes higher-margin T-glass for AI chips. Combined with rising memory prices, low-end Galaxy A output is squeezed (MX unit lost 735B KRW in Q2), while Galaxy S27 flagship plans stay intact. Annual shipment target slips from 240M to 230M units.
