NVFP4 weight lossless compression frees ~6GB VRAM for KV-cache
TheZachMueller · x · 2026-10-16
A technical clarification: this is not lossless quantization but lossless compression of NVFP4 weights. At the same precision, a typical NVFP4 setup would be 6GB larger — with this compression the weights stay bit-identical while the 6GB saved can be spent entirely on KV-cache.
