New arXiv paper: coding agents recover from failures by rolling back to earlier states
jeffclune · x · 2026-10-16
A new arXiv paper explores how coding agents can recover from failures. Instead of starting from scratch, the authors let agents return to earlier development states (e.g., prior code checkpoints) and retry from there. They built and tested this mechanism, finding that rollback-based recovery lets agents continue tasks more effectively — a useful reference for agent memory and state-management design.
