Perplexity open-sources SPACE, the sandbox platform powering its Computer agents
AravSrinivas · x · 2026-10-16
Perplexity CEO Arav Srinivas announced the open-sourcing of SPACE (Sandboxed Platform for Agentic Code Execution), the sandbox platform powering all of Perplexity Computer. He notes that while sandboxes are a commodity, serving millions of them under production-grade traffic requires serious scaling engineering. SPACE uses pluggable runtimes to isolate agent and user code, is Apache-2.0 licensed, Rust-based, and includes Firecracker templates, Docker setups, protos, and Claude skills.
