Knödel Watch: animated vocabulary cards on ESP32-S3, open-sourced 4 days after unboxing
alexcovo_eth · x · 2026-10-16
Developer XuDong open-sourced Knödel Watch, a language-learning tool for the M5Stack StopWatch (ESP32-S3) that plays little animated characters acting out each vocabulary word on a tiny round screen. The project went from unboxing the kit to v0.1.0 in 4 days, offers one-click browser install, and ships under MIT license. The first course, Deutsch mit Knödel, teaches German at A2 level with English and Chinese translations; the deck format is language-agnostic so more courses can follow.
