Muvon ships octomind, an open alternative to OpenAI's always-on personal agents
donk8r · reddit · 2026-10-15
Muvon's octomind offers always-on personal agents in the same shape as OpenAI's Dots (launched Sep 29, $100/month ChatGPT Pro, EU-unavailable) without the lock-in. Agents take plain-sentence jobs and run with your laptop closed — the author uses them to watch competitor pricing pages and produce a daily three-line agent-news brief. Each agent has its own name, rules, model, schedule and chat; shows cost, asks before sending/deleting, never sees passwords. Devs get a Linux box with sudo and Docker, live URLs and a REST API; runtime is Apache 2.0 and runs locally via CLI. One-step import just shipped for agents from ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw and Hermes, with memories/instructions/skills, on a free tier.
