Ben Tossell on shipping production code as a non-technical builder with agents
msg · x · 2026-10-15
- IRL podcast with Ben Tossell, a self-described non-technical person intimidated by the terminal who nonetheless ships code to production at FactoryAI.
- Key topics: keeping personal context in a folder for portability across agents and models, deliberately pruning what his agent remembers, and why he skips Claude Code.
- Workflow details: a shared glossary to stop talking past his agent; splitting tasks between Pi, Factory, and Codex; why faster models feel smarter and he prefers steering agents live; why calling AI adoption a "skill issue" lets labs off the hook.
- Also covers learning AI by building silly things, a mascot animator for his personal site, and a visual dictionary for understanding coding agents.
