Open-Science: Apache-2.0 desktop app makes AI-assisted research traceable like versioned code
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-10-15
AIPOCH's Open-Science (Apache-2.0, 4.8K GitHub stars) is a local-first desktop app where an AI agent reads papers, pulls data from science databases, writes and runs Python/R, and saves charts and reports in one workspace. Every result records its input data, code, software setup and run history; sessions export as a portable .science file containing the conversation, selected files and evidence (minus API keys). Design principles: open-source, local-first, model-agnostic, self-hosted. A public demo verified 5 citations from each of 20 AI-written math papers.
