Dev builds point-and-click adventure engine with Claude, games free to play
Philipp · reddit · 2026-10-20
A Reddit developer spent months building a point-and-click adventure game engine with Claude: Claude draws the pixel art, writes, and designs puzzles from the author's story/art briefs, while the author playtests and tunes. The engine supports particle effects, shadows, stereo sound, multi-character games, translations, voice, and music.
Built on the Claude API (Opus 5.5 Extra); the author says Gemini Argon and ChatGPT Astra couldn't match Claude on humor, human touch, and puzzle design. Posters were made with GPT-Image 2.5.
Key lessons: lower prompt specificity and avoid biasing examples (e.g. don't list "door, ladder or bridge" as transport options), and note AI-themed adventures often tripped cybersecurity guardrails. All adventures are free at graphicadventure.io.
