Ricursive Intelligence bets AI-designed chips can head off a 10,000x compute crunch

Ricursive Intelligence founders Anna Goldie and Azalia Mirhoseini took the stage at TechCrunch Disrupt to detail their startup's approach: AI that designs chips, learns from each iteration, and improves subsequent designs to automate and accelerate chip design. Goldie argued compute demand will grow at least 10,000x in five years — possibly a conservative estimate — and that making chips, bandwidth, wafer and fab usage more efficient is a better answer than simply building more data centers.
