Ex-Google training veteran behind Sibyl-to-Gemini joins Anthropic, spills a decade of lessons

A veteran who worked on Google's training systems from Sibyl and RankBrain to Gemini pretraining and the Nano/Flash push shares a decade-plus of distributed training experience, and says he now works at Anthropic on pretraining research (up to Mythos) and Core Automation. He will speak at LanceDB's Reverie event in SF on Nov 5, covering hardware codesign and sync vs async training (including nearly putting async into chips).
