Dev Take: Multi-Agent Parallelism Is a Fragile Compromise; Sequential Agents Win on Reliability and Cost
gerardsans · x · 2026-10-14
Developer @gerardsans argues there's a fragile compromise between context drift and parallelization overhead in multi-agent setups: only use multiple agents when time is critical and massive costs can be absorbed; otherwise a single sequential agent is reliable and on budget.
He adds this is confirmed by the literature, that marketing oversells the multi-agent narrative, and that well context-partitioned sequential execution is superior with current tech — quipping that "there are no agents anyways, just separate inference runs."
