TV Time's shutdown cost him 15 years of data, so he rebuilt a 10,000-item media tracker in Obsidian

dSebastien · x · 2026-10-14

After TV Time shut down in July 2026, taking 15 years of his viewing history, the author moved everything into his Obsidian vault: 10,260+ plain-Markdown notes for movies, shows, anime, games and board games with covers, statuses, ratings, ownership and dates — browsable, queryable, publishable, and AI-questionable. The 43-minute write-up shows the full build, including automation rules: dragging a Kanban card to Watching stamps datestarted, marking Owned sets dateacquired, lending stamps lenton — rules only fill empty fields so manual input wins. Data is Git-versioned and synced multiple times daily. The system ships with Obsidian Starter Kit v5.1 as a free update.
