AI edge is a million optimizations, not magic algorithms

Quintin Pope mocks the common "magic algorithm thinking" in AI discourse:
- He caricatures the belief that "once everyone has the 'magic IP commoditization machine', our key advantage shall be our super special IP."
- His "reality" version: asked what the Americans' secret is, the answer is that a frontier model spent 4 months co-developing internal routing infrastructure, chip firmware, memory orchestration and a hierarchical model ecosystem to implement a million optimizations no human understands more than 3% of.
His point: frontier AI advantage lies in massive, interlocking systems engineering — not a secret algorithm or exclusive IP.
