"I See No Progress in AI, Only Automation Branded as AI," Skeptic Argues
AlexTensor · x · 2026-10-14
A pointed skeptic take: TrueAIHound says he sees no progress in AI, only progress in computer automation that is claimed to be AI. There has never been any AI in the world, he argues — intelligence is not automated mimicry, and while Turing would have liked it, intelligence is not an imitation game.
He goes further: the AI community is farther from solving intelligence than it was when the GOFAI crowd renamed cybernetics to AI, and calling the current path "super intelligence" is laughable. The post quotes Pedro Domingos' counter-claim that "progress in AI is progress in everything."
