Modder plugs a local 2B decision model into Halo CE as a split-screen AI co-op teammate
CurtisSawtooth · reddit · 2026-10-14
Reddit user CurtisSawtooth wired Intern-Decision-2B into OpenCE (open Halo CE) with GPT's help, creating an AI split-screen co-op teammate. The model receives game state as text — player/NPC positions, health, ammo, plus raycasts for obstacle detection — and predicts actions translated into game input. An in-game text box lets the player prompt the AI mid-match, with a short action history and an aim-assist toggle. It runs locally on an RTX 4060 laptop at a few decisions per second. 'The whole experience somehow works while also being completely broken,' the author writes.
