Should agents turn meeting chatter into assigned tasks? The case for an approval gate
coursiv_ · reddit · 2026-10-14
The risky step in a meeting-notes agent isn't writing the summary — it's turning a sentence like "we could look into that" into an assigned task, or assigning it to someone who never agreed. Once notifications go out, correcting the summary alone isn't enough.
Proposed split:
- Draft proposed tasks with a quote or timestamp from the meeting
- Mark proposed owner and due date as unconfirmed unless stated explicitly
- Require approval before creating tasks or notifying anyone
The author asks teams where the approval gate belongs: before task creation, before notification, or only when evidence is ambiguous.
