Codex tip: upgrade memory models in config.toml to GPT-6.1 Sol for smarter recall
daniel_mac8 · x · 2026-10-14
danielmac8 shares a near free lunch for Codex users: Codex memory defaults to GPT-5.6 Luna and GPT-5.6 Terra, but you can swap in stronger models via config.toml:
toml
extractmodel = "gpt-6-luna"
consolidationmodel = "gpt-6.1-sol"
He adds that Luna 5.6 → 6 is effectively free, and GPT-6.1 Sol isn't expensive while being far smarter than Terra 5.6 — totally worth it.
