mitsuhiko: Opus-written kids' coding guide reads better than the book I bought
mitsuhiko · x · 2026-10-13
Developer mitsuhiko shared a kids' guide to reading code that Claude Opus generated for his children, noting it — especially the German version — reads better than the programming book he bought them.
The guide uses his kids' game as a running example: code is just plain text the computer executes top to bottom, with color-coded comments, keywords like const and function, numbers, strings, and made-up names, grounded in a concrete in-game "town portal scroll" (stand still 5s to open, 1s to teleport). He also poses the underlying question: is it still "AI slop" if it's genuinely nice to read?
