Matt Pocock launches AI Coding Dictionary defining harness, cache tokens, effort in plain English
mattpocockuk · x · 2026-10-13
Matt Pocock released The AI Coding Dictionary (source: aihero.dev), defining AI coding vocabulary in plain English: Model (stateless parameters doing next-token prediction), Harness (tools, system prompt, context management that turn a model into an agent), Effort (reasoning dial), cache tokens and prefix cache (cached input billed cheaper), and input vs output token billing differences. It accompanies his thread on common AI coding mistakes.
