Codex Desktop Windows update breaks OAuth login, returns HTTP 432 routing errors
HTTNH · ghdev · 2026-10-12
A user reports OpenAI Codex Desktop (26.1007.2314.0, Windows, GPT Plus) breaking after the Oct 10 update:
- OAuth login fails with tokenexchangefailed when requesting auth.openai.com/oauth/token;
- Logs show repeated workspace routing discovery timeouts and multiple HTTP 432 Workspace routing is unavailable responses;
- The app unexpectedly demands re-authentication after Windows restarts (reproduced twice);
- A TUN-based global proxy setup worked fine before the update, and ChatGPT remains accessible via browser, pointing the problem at the desktop app's network/auth path.
