Simon Willison ships web-edit: edit server files from your phone without routing secrets through an LLM

Simon Willison released web-edit 0.1a0, a Python web app providing a UI for browsing and editing files in a folder.
He built it while working via Codex Remote on his phone and wanting to edit a credentials file without round-tripping secrets through the LLM. He had Codex and GPT-6 Astra Extra High generate the app, designed to run over Tailscale so an agent can start it and he can edit files directly from his phone. Editing uses CodeMirror 6 (Monaco still lacks a good mobile experience).
