Codex bug on Linux: full-access thread silently downgraded at goal continuation, bypass flag ineffective via daemon
randomparity · ghdev · 2026-10-09
A Fedora Linux user reports that a full-access Codex CLI thread (v0.162.0) was downgraded to a managed :workspace permission profile at a goal-continuation boundary, losing GitHub connectivity and write access to Git metadata. Even a CLI launched with --dangerously-bypass-approvals-and-sandbox against the shared daemon kept the restricted context, and restarting the daemon didn't help; a --no-daemon relaunch passed all checks but yielded a forked thread with a new ID. The author carefully notes the policy-change source is unknown and the repro involves multi-client history, so it's not a clean CLI-only demonstration.
