David Patterson: all cars will be autonomous by 2030, saving 40,000 American lives a year
davidpattersonx · x · 2026-10-13
Computer architecture legend David Patterson predicts that once all cars become autonomous, 40,000 Americans per year will remain alive who otherwise would have died in crashes.
He argues lives are being saved starting now, with the toll dropping each year as autonomous driving hours rapidly increase, and forecasts full autonomy for all cars by 2030.
