Open-source self-hosted Trello MCP server ships 77 tools, covers features official MCP lacks
Enthouan · reddit · 2026-10-13
Developer Enthouan open-sourced trello-mcp, a self-hostable MIT-licensed MCP server that lets AI assistants manage existing Trello boards. It predates Trello's official MCP and already supports several capabilities the official docs list as coming soon.
Key points:
- 77 tools, local stdio or Streamable HTTP, with Docker Compose support.
- Ahead-of-official features: creating/editing labels, assigning members to individual checklist items, and uploading server-local attachments (opt-in, restricted to a configured directory).
- Supports permanent deletions; approval controls depend on the MCP client, and self-hosting doesn't stop board data from reaching your AI provider.
The author uses it with Hermes for task management, and even maintains the project's own Trello roadmap through the server itself.
