Blind Test Pits 4 Motion-Graphics Agents; HyperFrames Wins Again
tobowers · x · 2026-10-13
Developer Topper Bowers ran a fourth blind test of motion-graphics agents: one open brief to each tool — make a 30–45s professional reel showing the tool's best, with the agent picking concept, music and type, plus a taste-driven revision pass. Claude (Opus 5.5) acted as a blind subagent judge.
- Winner: HyperFrames (WAVELENGTH) — widest range, the only real music, and a live HTML poster as a 3D texture; wins its second round
- EffectCraft (DIMENSIONS) was the most After Effects-native (Card Dance, Shatter, Lightning) but loud
- fframes produced a disciplined ink/editorial design in just two renders; Claude ranked it first from stills
- Tesseract built a true 4D hypercube in WGSL with stock synthwave styling
Notable: three of four independently chose the same "dimensions" theme. Bowers notes stills-based judging rewards composition and palette, but reels live on timing, music and movement — Claude's contact-sheet ranking differed from the actual verdict. Some newer tools lack 3D support yet; Tesseract says 3D is coming soon.
