Cloudflare Agents SDK adds web_search (Exa/Linkup/ceramic) and Markdown web_fetch tools
irvinebroque · x · 2026-10-13
Cloudflare's Agents SDK (v0.27.0+) now ships two built-in tools:
- websearch: powered by the new Cloudflare Web Search API with a choice of Exa, Linkup, or ceramic.ai backends via AI Gateway. The model sends a query and max results, receiving a numbered list of titles, URLs, and trimmed descriptions.
- webfetch: fetches pages with automatic Markdown conversion, and the model is prompted to use it to read websearch results.
Integration is a one-liner into a Pi Durable extension registry (webSearchTool({ binding: this.env.AI, provider: "exa" })); AI SDK and TanStack AI adapters are included, and model-less usage (e.g. cron jobs) is supported via createAIWebSearch() or createHTTPWebSearch().
