DeepSeek desktop agent app reviewed: model promising, harness trails Cursor in 5 ways
casper_hansen_ · x · 2026-10-13
The author tested DeepSeek's desktop agent app: the model side is promising, but the harness lags Cursor's Agents window in five key ways:
- Remotes are a chore — third-party plugin needed; Cursor has it built in.
- Browser basically missing — web search/real browsing tasks end up inaccurate; the agent mostly guesses.
- Custom providers are a black box — can't tell if you get the full or degraded model.
- No time travel — Cursor lets you jump back to any point and restore files or roll back chat; one bad turn can ruin a session here.
- Sessions can't reference each other — no session ID to copy, so sharing context means manual copy-paste.
All are harness, not model problems — but harness quality decides which tool he opens each morning.
