Professor recruiting PhD students at intersection of computational mechanics and computer vision
anand_bhattad · x · 2026-10-12
Wrapping up his Fall 2026 recruiting thread, anandbhattad shares a personal note: finding PhD students combining computational mechanics and computer vision is rare. His student Tung, with zero prior mechanics background, spent months learning basics and now impresses fracture experts in mechanical and civil engineering.
He also lays out his research vision: the space of material microstructures is enormous, and as models improve, better experimental datasets and model predictions could form a continuous loop for studying material behavior.
