Hono disables external PRs, maintainer says the PR era no longer works
jasonkneen · x · 2026-10-12
Hono creator yusukebe announced that the honojs/hono repo has disabled PRs from external contributors. He credits community PRs—including @usualoma's RegExpRouter, a remarkably fast HTTP router—for the project's success, but argues that "PRs don't work in this era" and asks people to contribute in other ways.
Jason Kneen pushed back: people invest time filing issues but won't be recognized as contributors, which was a key benefit of merged PRs. The move fuels debate over whether the traditional open-source contribution model can survive the AI era.
