Zed CEO: Agents Will Use Existing Tools, Not Code Desktop Apps From Scratch
zeeg · x · 2026-10-12
Zed CEO Mitchell Zeeg pushes back on the claim that agents will code giant custom applications to solve user tasks: asked to edit a photo, an agent will use web APIs or existing command-line binaries—not build a desktop app the user doesn't know how to operate. "The complexity of software didn't just disappear," he argues, taking a swipe at indie developers who he says "never lived or worked in the real world."
