AgentJournal: open-source agent memory system claimed to beat compaction and CLMs
PiPercentHuman · reddit · 2026-10-11
A developer released AgentJournal, an open-source memory system for AI agents targeting two pain points on long coding tasks: context compaction mangling the original rules, and dynamic context editing / Context Language Models (CLMs) burning tokens without finishing. Its approach mimics human memory management: pin the original prompt, log actions cleanly, and safely clear working context between tasks. The author reports nearly every run completing reliably across dozens of files where standard compaction and CLM broke down. Open source, seeking feedback.
